Too many years ago to mention I worked with clay and even became reasonably skilled at throwing. And then I stopped - and gave all the tools away. Since then I worked as a graphic designer and attained a degree in Fine Art, but all this time never crossing the threshold of a ceramics studio.  Until ... 

... about eight years ago I re-discovered ceramics. I'm a committed hand-builder and I use a mixture of clays, and these give me a surface to develop, using texture, slips, oxides, stains and minimal glaze. The scope is enormous - and very exciting.

My influences are natural forms, people and anything to do with the sea. Probably something to do with my seaside East Anglian early life and love of bleak coastlines, plus visits to the wild landscapes of the Outer Hebrides, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Iceland.

Drawing will always be important, sometimes taking a back seat, but always there.
